The Biology Department at U of Iowa helped me a lot with the making of these frames
Epoxy was the answer. Despite taking an hour to set up each frame, the result was flawless

This animation was a test I created in order to see if creating stop motion animations using watermarks was in fact a possibility. It was also a way to work out all the kinks before launching into a much larger and more elaborate project more deeply rooted in Book Arts, with a silent nod to the history and technique of western hand papermaking. The test was designed to explore the interrelationship between physical paper and the book structure, and the importance of both to our culture.
It took about 6 months of materials research. The actual making of the paper took a lot less time (32 hours total). The link for the 1-second short: https://vimeo.com/63137678
