Natural Indigo Vats

What will you learn?

In this class, participants will learn how to set up two types of natural indigo vats, the fruit vat and the ferrous vat. We will cover the history of Indigo in India, how to be conscientious when sourcing this and other dyes, using natural indigo for a range of projects on paper and cloth, reviving the vat for re-use over a long period, as well as safe disposal of the vat after you are finished with it. This class will not cover shibori or resist-dyeing in detail, but will provide general information and resources on these techniques.

What is the duration of the class?
The class will be held over the weekend for two days, 2 hours on Day 1, and 1 hour on Day 2. Class starts at  4 pm Norway time (CEST).
On the first day we will make two vats together, and on the second day, we will check on the vats by dyeing samples, and go over reviving a spent vat.
If you cannot attend the class, a recording will be available for a limited period.

What materials do I need to participate?
With your registration you will receive a complete materials list (along with links) to purchase what you need. Students are requested to purchase supplies ahead of the class in order to follow along. This is not required, but will be greatly help your understanding of the process. 

How do I register and what is the cost?
The total cost for the class is 175 USD. This does not include any materials you would need to purchase ahead of time.
Once I receive your payment for the class, you are registered and will be sent the materials list and some instructions to start preparing for this class.
