$185.00Price
In this two-session workshop, students will learn about the history, techniques, tools, and materials of Korean bookbinding. In the first session, students will learn how to line hanji using wheat paste to make thick book cover paper. Students will have a week to work on lining their paper with more layers in preparation for the second session. During the second session, students will learn about finishing techniques like waxing and burnishing and have the option to treat their cover papers in preparation for bookbinding. Students will prepare textblocks by binding folded sheets together with paper cords to create an inner binding, and then finally sew the prepared covers to these text blocks to make a five-hole side-stitch book.
