Four multi-block wood engravings paired with handset text introduce the reader to three broad types of lichens they may encounter in the forest.

The deluxe edition is bound using case paper produced at the University of Iowa Center for Book’s paper production facility. The illustrations are a combination of wood engravings and pressure prints off wood and stone.
